VLAVD is responsible for evaluation of farm and pet animal vaccines either living attenuated or inactivated (local or imported).
Evaluation of vaccines must undergo several tests as Safety, Potency and Challenge tests according to last version of World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH founded as OIE) protocol.
Live attenuated vaccines are evaluated by two methods: Titration in tissue culture using different types of tissue culture lines according to type that vaccine adapted on and titration by real -time PCR quantitative test.
Inactivated vaccines are evaluated by estimation of antibody titer in animals by using (SNT-ELISA-HI tests)
VLAVD is accredited by EGAC for ISO 17025 in 4 methods:
* Assay of virus content in live attenuated large animal vaccine.
* Estimation of antibody titer for inactivated large animal viral vaccines by using Serum Neutralization Test (SNT).
* Detection and estimation of antibodies against Equine Influenza using Hemagglutination Inhibition test (HI).
* Titration of live viral vaccines of pet animals using real- time Polymerase Chain reaction (rt-PCR).
