BLAVD is responsible for evaluation of all living attenuated or inactivated bacterial large animal and pet animal vaccines either imported or locally produced.

The vaccines are evaluated and the antibody titres were measured by using serum neutralization mice protection test, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Passive Haemagglutination Inhibition (PHI) test, tube agglutination test and bacterial count (According to the type of tested vaccines).

BLVD is accredited by EGAC for ISO 17025 in 2 methods:

* Enumeration of aerobic bacterial count in live attenuated vaccine.

* Estimation and detection for antibody against Mannheimia haemolytica using ELISA kit.
