BSD is responsible for detection of bacterial, fungal and mycoplasmal contaminants in all living attenuated vaccines, inactivated vaccines, antigens and indicators.

The detection of contaminants is applied by different ways: direct inoculation on specific media, PCR technique and VITEK-2 compact.

BSD is accredited by EGAC for ISO 17025 in 4 methods:

* Detection of bacteria and fungi contamination in veterinary vaccines.

* Detection of Mycoplasma contamination in living viral vaccines.

* Detection of Salmonella contamination in living viral vaccines.

* Detection of Mycoplasma contamination in living viral vaccines using Polymerase chain Reaction (PCR).
